Jack Hulme Design

History

Jack Hulme’s approach to wayfinding has always been about listening and observing. His namesake studio was founded in 2001 to better integrate wayfinding and the built environment through collaboration with clients and other design disciplines.

Jack’s commitment to an integrated approach stems from 15 years spent working with leading design firms as designer and project manager. His early experience included comprehensive work on the sprawling ten-building Pharmacia Corporate Campus designing signage ranging from highway, parking garage, and exterior directional signs to an interior room numbering directional system and maps. His methodical attention to detail was put to work on large, urban wayfinding projects in Camden and Jersey City, NJ, and Dallas, TX. His creativity shined on resort and restaurant projects for Walt Disney World, Rainforest Café, and Sea World.

For all of the prestige of the large projects, Jack felt a disconnect between the needs of his clients and the nature of large design firms. He founded Jack Hulme Design to regain a focus on each individual client and to ensure each project was approached with a fresh perspective. The studio is regularly involved not only with its clients – but also with architects, interior designers, and landscape planners – from project conception to ensure a consistent, cohesive vision is achieved and that dialogue is continuous and constructive.

Since its founding, Jack Hulme Design has grown, but Jack remains personally involved in every project as both design and project management lead. His commitment to design solutions that create a strong sense of place has earned the studio an impressive client list including the City of Perth Amboy, NJ; Princeton University; Michael Graves & Associates; Township of Lower Merion, PA; St. Mary Medical Center; and the Abington Art Center.

We sincerely appreciate the ongoing relationships we have cultivated over the years and we look forward to continued business and friendship with our clients and design partners.
